Travel Bucketlist From Oakland
Ever feel like just getting away from it all, if only for a little while? The fall is a great time to strike out from the luxury apartments in Oakland and visit all those places you’ve been meaning to go to but never quite got around to doing. If you haven’t yet filled your travel bucket list with amazing locales to visit, then you’re in luck. Today, we’re going to be offering up some worthwhile suggestions so that you’ve plenty to pick from as you contemplate where you should head to this Fall.
Traveling: Bay Area Style
One of the best parts of traveling from Oakland is that you don’t have to go too far to find some places that are simply amazing. Just a short ways into the East Bay, and you’ve got natural expanses like Mount Diablo State Park just waiting to be explored. Hundreds of thousands of acres surround the towering Mount Diablo, and there’s plenty of hiking, adventuring, cycling, and more for you to enjoy within its confines.
Of course, you don’t have to head out into nature to enjoy yourself. You could also head north from Oakland, into the Tri-Valley area. Containing smaller cities like Dublin, Livermor, Pleasanton, and San Ramon, this area is a hub for wine growing (so a winery visit should always be on the itinerary). Beyond that, though, these places have charming downtown areas, lovely boutiques, and a small town charm that’s hard to replicate, so just walking around those cozy streets would be a treat unto itself.
Heading south from Oakland, you can easily get to Fremont and San Jose. San Jose itself is known as the “Capital of Silicon Valley,” and shows off its early California influences and Mexican period architecture all around town. From parks to stunning landmarks, there’s plenty to hold your interest here, and it’s an interesting change from Oakland or San Francisco.
Speaking of which, if you haven’t jumped across the water and into San Francisco proper, then what are you waiting for? The Golden Gate City needs no introduction, and there’s always something going on in its densely populated streets. Take just a bit of time to be a tourist, and check out the sights like Alcatraz Island, Fisherman’s Wharf, and world famous Golden Gate Park, if you’ve got the time!
